UFC 206 will get a bit of help from the featherweight division.

Former UFC lightweight champion Anthony “Showtime” Pettis is set to face surging featherweight contender Max Holloway in a 145-pound clash on the Dec. 10 pay-per-view from Toronto. The bout was first reported by TSN.

Pettis comes into the bout after bouncing back from a three-fight losing streak inside the Octagon. Having held the UFC lightweight championship from 2013-15, Pettis dropped a trio of decisions against former champion Rafael dos Anjos, current champion Eddie Alvarez and rising contender Edson Barboza. The Milwaukee, Wisconsin fighter since dropped to 145 pounds, and defeated Charles Oliveira via Round 3 submission at UFC on FOX 21 in August. The victory over the submission specialist sent Pettis soaring up the rankings, putting him just five slots away from champion Conor McGregor.

Holloway, meanwhile, has been on a tear in the featherweight ranks. The 24-year-old Hawaiian fighter hasn’t tasted defeat since a unanimous decision loss to McGregor in 2013, racking up nine straight victories over the likes of Cole Miller, Cub Swanson, Charles Oliveira, Jeremy Stephens and Ricardo Lamas. “Blessed” is currently ranked third in the featherweight division and owns the longest active winning streak in the class. He’d been hopeful of securing a matchup with interim UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo, but it appears as though Aldo will stick to his guns of remaining inactive for the foreseeable future.

UFC 206, taking place at the Air Canada Centre, is headlined by a light heavyweight championship clash between titleholder Daniel Cormier and Anthony “Rumble” Johnson.
