MMA fans eagerly awaiting to see what would come next for top UFC bantamweight prospect Thomas Almeida do not have to wait much longer.
UFC announced Tuesday that Almeida would make his return to the Octagon next month, taking on relative newcomer to the promotion, Albert Morales.
The two are set to fight in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 100, which will take place Nov. 19.
Almeida had publicly expressed interest in fighting on the card as it takes place in his hometown of Sao Paulo, Brazil.
In his most recent fight, Almeida was featured in the main event of UFC Fight Night 88 where he took on fellow fast-rising prospect and knockout artist Cody Garbrandt. The fight did not go well for Almeida in the slightest.
From the moment the fight began, Garbrandt was taking control and Almeida seemed completely out of his element. It did not take long as Almeida ultimately crumbled to Garbrandt’s onslaught in just under three minutes.
Prior to that, Almeida was the betting favorite going in, coming off of three impressive performances. He fought Yves Jabouin, Brad Pickett, and Anthony Birchak consecutively; knocking all three men out.
Morales has only fought in the UFC once prior, getting a draw against Alejandro Perez at UFC Fight Night 94. He holds an overall record of 6-0-1 now, with only one win coming by way of decision.
UFC Fight Night 100 is set to be headlined by a light heavyweight rematch.
Ryan Bader is scheduled to fight Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.
Their first fight took place in 2010 at UFC 119. Bader won by unanimous decision.
