Finnegan’s Pick – Who Wins the 2015 Royal Rumble?

The word from from the dirt sheets, as of late, is that Triple H held a meeting with the backstage talent and told them that in the weeks leading up to The Royal Rumble, they would decide who deserved the chance to go to and win WrestleMania 31. If true, that is huge. It means that everyone in the locker room had equal chance to impress the bosses. I won’t try and base my opinion off of who’s been the most impressive in the last few weeks. Instead, I’ll tell you who I think should win, based off the potential I see in their ensuing WrestleMania moment.

I think the honor of 2015 Royal Rumble Winner should go to Dean Ambrose. Think about the Main Event if he wins. It could be anything, but I’m hoping Seth Rollins gets his hands on the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at The Rumble, so we can get two out of three Shield members on the grandest stage of them all. Based on fan reaction, that would be the barn-burner. If you don’t agree, go and watch their match at Hell In A Cell 2014. They pulled so much out of themselves for a middle of the road Pay-per-view. Imagine what they’ll do on The Grandest Stage of Them All.

Along side of that, I’m hoping Daniel Bryan and Brock Lesnar get to go toe to toe at WrestleMania. I know what people are going to say: that’s ridiculous, that’s unbelievable, how could Daniel Bryan ever possibly beat Brock Lesnar? Guys, that’s their f—king job. It’s Professional Wrestling. They’re supposed to make you believe in the unbelievable. The David vs. Goliath in-ring psychology has led to some of my favorite feuds. It’s one of the reasons that I love Shawn Michaels: seeing him go against guys like Vader, Sycho Sid, and Diesel always fascinated me. I have no problem trusting in the fact that Brock and Bryan will make us believe.

Hell, you could throw Roman Reigns in the Rollins and Ambrose match. Maybe he’ll be more comfortable working with his buddies and stop f—king up his promos. I mean, come on! “André The GIANT never called himself a GIANT,” he said.

Really dude? Sound it out if you’re having trouble.

Anyway, I know there are some that are pulling for guys like Dolph Ziggler and Ryback, but they should probably get their heads out of the clouds. Realistically, it’s down to Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Daniel Bryan, Brock Lesnar, and John Cena for the main event WWE World Heavyweight Championship match. Reigns may not be in the conversation anymore after his GIANT screw up.

It’s got to be something big. The WWE Universe, as Vince prefers to call fans, are not going to stand for another outcome like last year with Batista.
