Earlier this year, wrestling fans got a taste of what former WCW and WWE star Bill Goldberg had to offer at the age of 48. Over 10 years after he ended his pro career, Goldberg had enough to offer up both of his finishing moves at a Legends of Wrestling show in New York’s Citi Field.
Wrestling fans being what they are, many began wondering if Goldberg would ever decide to stake a comeback into the squared circle. Though he’s not entirely open to the idea, it’s something he still thinks about to this day, he told Ring Rust Radio (h/t Bleacher Report)
“The itch will always be there because I am always a competitor and my wife and son have never seen me wrestle,” he said. “Let me be clear though, that itch won’t supersede my ability to be a businessman. The itch is always there, it’s there three times a week when I walk into my MuayThai gym and put the gloves and shin pads on.”
Though he’s not committed to making a return, he does have an idea of who he’d like to face. A couple of ideas, actually. He told Ring Rust Radio:
“It would be [Stone Cold Steve] Austin for sure. Brock [Lesnar] would be a good one since we have unfinished business. At the end of the day that everyone clamors for, and I even clamor for, would be Austin and me. There will always be a question mark there unless we were to do something one on one. It’s kind of a match made in heaven.”
Goldberg last stepped into a scheduled match at WrestleMania XX in 2004, facing off against Lesnar with Austin as the special guest referee.
