The MMA world finally gets its chance to see what a post-Alliance Michael Chandler looks like on Nov. 6.
His placement on the Bellator card was announced a while back, but the promotion only recently revealed who Chandler would be fighting at Bellator 145. “Iron” Mike Chandler takes on David Rickels in a rematch of the former’s final title defense as Bellator’s 155-pound king.
Chandler’s gone 1-3 since his 44-second knockout victory against Rickels in 2013. He gave up a pair of split-decision losses to Eddie Alvarez and Will Brooks before suffering a bizarre TKO loss to the latter last November. As mentioned, this is Chandler’s first bout since parting ways with Eric Del Fierro, Phil Davis and Dominick Cruz at Alliance MMA for Power MMA — a gym that boasts fellow ex-Alliance teammate Myles Jury and top-five UFC light heavyweight Ryan Bader.
Rickels has done a bit better than his former and future counterpart, going 2-1 with one no contest since Bellator 97. His only loss since then came at the hands of Patricky “Pitbull” Freire in March 2014.
The rest of the card is filled with two title fights, as featherweight champion Patricio “Pitbull” Freire takes on Daniel Straus and lightweight titleholder “Ill” Will Brooks meets Marcin Held.
