The last time we saw UFC bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw, he was dismantling former champion Renan Barão for the second time to dramatically close out their rivalry.
Now, the 135-pound champion has his next title defense set against Dominick Cruz.
Prior to that, however, Dillashaw opened up on a different matchup.
Just like his Sacramento-based Team Alpha male teammates Urijah Faber and Chad Mendes, Dillashaw has recently been on the hot end of one of the “Notorious” Conor McGregor’s trademark barbs. McGregor in a recent interview laughed at the difference in the money and numbers the two champions make.
Things went to a whole other level when the two got into several verbal confrontations while Dillashaw was helping Faber coach against McGregor to film the latest installment of The Ultimate Fighter. Throughout filming McGregor was constantly telling Faber that Dillashaw was a “snake in the grass” while constantly challenging the bantamweight champion to move to featherweight so they can settle their differences in the Octagon.
A fight which Dillashaw is ready for if it were to happen.
“I don’t think there is a fighter that McGregor doesn’t have beef with these days,” Dillashaw said. “It’s hard to argue when it comes to numbers because he had more guys at weigh-ins than I did in Sacramento and that is crazy. I would love the fight and that would be something amazing and fun to do.”
