While UFC 205 will have to go on without Rashad Evans vs. Tim Kennedy, neither man will have to go without their planned paychecks.

UFC officials state both fighters will receive their show money for UFC 205. News of their paydays comes just a few hours after Evans was pulled from UFC 205 for failing to meet medical requirements set for the by the New York State Athletic Commission.

While the UFC had three days to find Kennedy a new opponent, the company says it will elect to not have anybody step in Evans’ place for the Madison Square Garden card.

“The UFC organization was notified today that the New York State Athletic Commission has denied Rashad Evans a license to compete at UFC 205 due to a medical issue,” the UFC told MMAjunkie in a statement. “Evans’ scheduled bout against Tim Kennedy this coming Saturday, November 12 in New York, will be removed from the fight card.

“However, both athletes will receive their show money. There are currently no plans to replace this bout.”

It’s not entirely clear what prompted the NYSAC to pull Evans from the card, though Evans has acknowledged the decision stems from an MRI examination. He says he’s doing just fine, however.

Kennedy, meanwhile, will have to stay on the shelf a bit longer. Having been away from the Octagon for more than two years, this would have marked Kennedy’s first fight since a controversial third-round TKO loss to Yoel Romero at UFC 178.

There is no word on what may be next for either fighter.
