OK, let’s try this again.
Two months removed from their would-be headliner at Bellator 144, Bellator bantamweight champion Marcos Galvao is now rescheduled to defend his 135-pound title against former training partner Eduardo Dantas at Bellator 150 on Feb. 26 in Mulvane, Kansas, the promotion announced Friday.
The original title match — which was replaced by a middleweight title fight between Brandon Halsey and Rafael Carvalho — was scrapped after Dantas suffered an injury and was forced to withdraw. Galvao was briefly rumored to face former Bellator bantamweight and featherweight champion Joe Warren, but the fight never materialized.
This marks the second time the Brazilian bantamweights enter the cage together for the Bellator bantamweight title. They first met in 2013 at Bellator 89, when Dantas stopped Galvao via second-round KO.
Dantas would go on to lose the title to Warren two fights later, who would then lose his belt to Galvao via second-round submission just five months after taking the crown.
The 26-year-old Dantas last fought Mike Richman at Bellator 137, defeating the Minnesota native in a three-round unanimous decision. He is 3-2 in his last five contests.
Galvao has won four straight since losing to Dantas in 2013, stopping three of his four opponents within two rounds.
Longtime Bellator 155-pound fighter David “The Caveman” Rickels is also scheduled to fight on the card, though his opponent has not been announced. Rickels last fought at Bellator 145 in November, losing to former Bellator lightweight champion “Iron” Michael Chandler for the second time in as many years.
