UFC women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm is more than happy to offer Ronda Rousey an immediate rematch if the former champion wants one.
But is she willing to go along with Rousey’s original plan of waiting until UFC 200 in July to do so? Well, that might be a problem. She said during the pre-weigh-ins show on FOX Sports 1 Friday:
“I would like to fight sooner [than UFC 200], but I’m not ever one to say, ‘Yes this. No that.’ I always like to take whatever challenge comes my way. That’s how I wound up with [the Rousey] fight in the first place.
“I just like to fight [frequently] because I start to get stir crazy when I don’t have a goal. Like, what’s my timeline? What’s my goal? What’s my next thing to work on? I do like not having [a fight] for a while [after competing]. To just go to the gym and spar for fun for the day and not have to be thinking about a gameplan. But a rematch? Yeah. I’ve had a devastating loss before, I lost my belt and I had to come back and I got to avenge my loss. She gave me the opportunity to fight for the belt in the first place. A rematch is the only way to go, but that’s just as long as she wants it.”
Holm, undefeated through 10 bouts a pro mixed martial artist, defeated Rousey via second-round KO in the main event at UFC 193 inside of Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia.
