From the Charleston church shootings in June to the rise of Donald Trump as the face of the republican ticket in next year’s presidential race, a lot has happened in 2015.
But in all the chaos the calendar year’s brought onto us, TIME Magazine managed to remember one of the most iconic moments in mixed martial arts history, as Holly Holm’s knockout victory over Ronda Rousey at UFC 193 has made it onto the publication’s Top 100 Photos of 2015.
The photo, snapped by Paul Crock of Getty Images, was placed in the 66th spot of the list — though TIME’s photo editors created the list in no particular order. It captures the very moment Holm’s high kick landed flush on Rousey’s jawline, forcing the former champion to lay flat on the canvas as 56,000 people inside Etihad Stadium and millions more watching at home struggled to make sense of it all.

Rousey managed to go undefeated in the first 12 contests of her professional career, finishing a dozen of the very best female mixed martial arts had to offer at 135 pounds. Only one of those opponents had made it out of the first round, and even she was dominated for a majority of the 11 minutes she survived inside the cage.
Fresh off of a 34-second knockout win over Bethe Correia just three months prior, the hype surrounding the former Olympic bronze medalist was at an all-time high coming into UFC 193 — setting up one of the biggest falls we’ve seen in the sport of mixed martial arts.
