WWE Diva Nikki Bella will be out at least one more month with an ongoing neck injury, the former Divas Champion noted on social media Saturday.
Bella, who said she will receive a clearer timetable at the end of January, is currently dealing with bulging discs in her neck. Bella is reportedly trying to avoid going under the knife, per ProWrestlingSheet.com Sources close to the situation tell Pro Wrestling Sheet the bulging discs were pressing up against Bella’s spinal cord and creating extra fluid in her nervous system, indicating a bump inside the squared circle could have resulted in paralysis.
According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, the injury stems from Bella’s finishing move, the Rack Attack. Bella traditionally lifts an opponent onto her upper back, placing pressure on her neck. She reportedly had the information confirmed by a neurologist earlier this month.
She was undergoing rehabilitation eight times a day in November.
Recognized as the Diva of the Year in 2013, Bella previously held the WWE Divas Championship for 301 days — surpassing former titleholder A.J. Lee as the longest reigning Divas Champion in the company’s history. Her run as champion ended on Sept. 20 at WWE’s Night of Champions pay-per-view event, when she dropped the title to Charlotte.
Bella is just one of several WWE wrestlers currently mending an injury. Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, 12-time world champion Randy Orton, fan-favorite Cesaro, ex-WWE Champion Daniel Bryan (who happens to be wed to Nikki Bella’s sister, Brie Bella) are all currently on the shelf with a variety of injuries.
