Halloween — a flip of the coin holiday — exists in two distinct forms: scary and not scary.
There are those who get a yearly thrill out of terrifying the kids next door with frightening costumes and decorations. Others take a more fantastical approach by dressing up as a superhero, Disney princess or UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey.
For one night only, this incredible holiday gives each of us an opportunity to dress up and be whatever or whoever we want. I can long remember Halloween nights dressed as The Crow — the cool night air stinging my face and blowing back my wig — sprinting door to door for treats. It feels like it was only yesterday. On second thought, I think it was yesterday.
The point is that we don’t have to be embarrassed to be whatever or whoever for one night each year. If “Big Country” Roy Nelson wants to dress up like Channing Tatum from “Magic Mike XXL,” go for it. Maybe Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone enjoys Christmas so much that he puts down the Bud Light and dresses up like Santa Claus.
Carla Esparza might go to a party dressed as Hit Girl; Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson could paint his face like a skeleton; Claudia Gadelha might go as Michael Myers, or hell, Dustin Poirier could save money by keeping a bloody face from an afternoon sparring session and go as himself.
You get the picture.
In celebration of a night filled with ghouls, goblins and magic fairy dust, Today’s Knockout takes a break from all of vicious knockouts and gnarly submissions to bring you the UFC edition of the celebration of Halloween.
UFC flyweight champ Demetrious Johnson and his “mighty” wife did their own makeup this year. While Johnson’s wife went with the classy Bambi look, Johnson dressed up as the “creeping skull guy.” I have to agree with one of the commenters. Johnson looks like pro-wrestling legend Kamala.
Note to self , kids costumes don't fit when you have a giant ass pic.twitter.com/7wEEzAoPQJ

Little Foot or Reptar — I’m still trying to wrap my head around Mitch Clarke’s costume.
Halloween training session! pic.twitter.com/t2UiDe2zHe

When you’re a professional MMA fighter like Dustin Poirier, you don’t need to wait for Halloween to get your blood and gore fix. Try an afternoon sparring session at American Top Team. Need some Kleenex for your ear, Mr. Poirier?

It’s nice to see a room full of unarmed killers have some lighthearted fun from time to time. Women’s bantamweight contender Amanda Nunes could certainly use the downtime as she continues to work towards a shot at Ronda Rousey.

UFC Octagon girl Luciana Andrade decided to go as Barbie this year. Check out her Nicki Minaj blinking skills.

It’s only fitting that one of the most dangerous fighters on the planet dressed up as Michael Myers for Halloween. There’s no escaping Claudia Gadelha. Be afraid, be very afraid.
Halloween weekend begins!!!!🎃
Good guesses on my costume, I am Hit-Girl from Kick-Ass!💜 pic.twitter.com/9UD14E26rE

I must admit Hit-Girl from the movie “Kick-Ass” has always been one of my personal favorite superheroes. What’s not to like about a potty-mouthed 10-year-old cleaning up the streets of New York with a detachable sword? Great choice by Carla Esparza.
Carla Esparza’s good buddy from The Ultimate Fighter 20, Felice Herrig, is rocking a modernized spin on the Ms. Marvel comic book character. I doubt you’d hear many people complaining.

UFC welterweight Court McGee is taking us back to the hippie and free love era of Richard “Cheech” and Tommy Chong.
Arianny Celeste is stunning, even as a zombie. The UFC Octagon girl won’t just break your heart. She’ll eat it as well.
UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum is a practical joker in his free time. He did a number on good friend and MMA legend Wanderlei Silva. It’s nothing to get all bent out of shape over. Werdum also pranked himself this year.
The cuteness level of this Halloween costume is through the roof. Meet Frankie Edgar’s “little Minnie.”
Donald Cerrone traded in his cowboy hat for a Santa costume. Christmas could be extra special this year for the longtime lightweight contender when he finally competes for the UFC title on Dec. 19.
UFC lightweight Joe Lauzon took on a scary rendition of Mickey Mouse this year. Don’t go scaring the kids now, Joe.
