Much of the world wants to count Holly Holm out of her championship fight with Ronda Rousey at UFC 193 this November.
She’s too inexperienced, they say. She hasn’t fought anybody of note, they argue. Rousey is just too good, they claim.
Rousey’s as confident as ever, but she’s not so sure the fight will be as easy as the public is expecting it to be.
“This one’s going to be a much longer fight, because she’s a 19-time boxing world champion with 100 percent takedown defense and headkick knockouts,” Rousey said on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. “She’s undefeated and an amazing athlete; I think the biggest threat, definitely to me. Especially on paper, and stylistically. She’s the type of fighter that you have to be very, very patient with. I feel like she’s going to try and keep distance and keep far away and get me frustrated into the point [where] I’ll make a mistake and she can try kick me in the head.
“But it’s not going to go like that. Not the way that she wants.”
Rousey takes on Holm at UFC 193 at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia on Nov. 15. If all goes well, the show will serve as the largest crowd to ever attend a UFC event.
