Jon Jones hasn’t stepped foot inside the Octagon since Jan. 3, when he defeated Daniel Cormier at UFC 182 to defend his light heavyweight title for the eighth time.
Since then, he’s tested positive for cocaine metabolites and allegedly been involved in a hit-and-run incident. He was a arrested in April for his suspected involvement, which left a pregnant woman with a broken arm. The UFC issues an indefinite suspension, and just like that, the sport’s pound-for-pound king was no more.
Not one to be quite on social media, Jones was uncharacteristically absent in the months that have followed his suspension. No Tweets. No Instagram posts. Fellow Jackson-Winkeljohn MMA fighter John Dodson mentioned Jones had been regularly training at the team’s new facility in Albuquerque, often focusing his attention on bettering his teammates.
Now, thanks to a video posted by teammate and lightweight title contender Donald Cerrone, we’ve caught a glimpse of Jones in the gym. The former champion can be seen grappling shortly after the 10-minute mark (WARNING: Video contains NSFW language):
Jones said he’d been doing a lot of soul searching since his indefinite suspension was issued.
His pending court date has not been announced, as the district attorney awaits further evidence to bring Jones in front of a grand jury.
