Holm-Rousey II is the match on everybody’s mind right now.
UFC President Dana White likes it; newly crowned UFC women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm does, too.
Chances are Ronda Rousey, who says she’s taking some time off but will “be back,” likes the idea of locking horns with the Jackson-Winkeljohn fighter once more, as she tries to regain the title that afforded her spots on the cover of magazines, movie posters and video games.
But White won’t press the issue with the former champion anytime soon, he said during Joe Rogan’s podcast while flying back from Australia to the United States.
“Normally when fighters come off a fight like the Ronda fight, the Lawler-MacDonald fight…. the last Cormier fight with [Gustafsson], you just wait.
“Probably a month. About a month you call them and say ‘Hey, what’s going on? What are you thinking? How are you feeling?'”
The UFC president says he’ll meet with Rousey sometime next week. They’ll get together, but they won’t discuss the topic on everybody’s mind just yet.
“I’ll see her next week in person,” he said. “We won’t talk about fighting.
“If she wants to talk, that’s cool; but I won’t talk to her about it. We’ll give her a month.”
Undefeated through her first 12 professional bouts, Rousey suffered her first career loss to Holm at UFC 193. Rousey was beaten to the punch for the better part of her six-minute fight and was ultimately knocked out shortly after the opening minute of the second round.
